Season 9, Episode 25

We’re as surprised as you at the following link.

We’re back from E3 and we’re not sure what to think of everything. Microsoft, we felt, had a very decent showing and Sony was more than we ever expected as far as the megaton’s were concerned. While we do hit each and every showing at E3, it’s the remake of Final Fantasy 7 that gives us the most conversation. It’s a nostalgia I am not familiar with, but one I wish I was after listening to James talk about it and reading the chat room.

For some things, you just had to be there.

Season 9, Episode 24

We’re clicking ourselves into carpal tunnel at the following link.

Well, here we go again. You’re getting this so early, because this entire episode will be outdated in 24 to 48 hours. We touch a bit on the Steam sale, but for the most part, this is ALL E3, with a touch of VR thrown in for good measure, but that kinda falls under E3 as well, doesn’t it?

Enjoy the show. I have a plane to catch. Be back here next weekend so we can sort through all that’s about to happen!

Mailbag! Episode 01

Hey look! A brand new feature. At least, we hope it’ll be a brand new feature. It sort of depends on you, pretty much. On this past week’s episode I kept mentioning I would talk about an email we received and I never got around to it. But I didn’t want to leave it flapping in the wind so I figured I would make a video for it. This was fun and if we keep getting more emails, we’ll keep doing more of these, but you’ve got to help us in that department.

All the ways to get in touch with us are over on the left there so please – send in your emails and talk to us! We’ll do a video and talk right back to you and hopefully answer your questions to the best of our ability.

Thanks for watching (and writing)!

Season 9, Episode 23

Our directional awareness is a little…skewed at the following link.

So it looks like we’re shipping up to Boston (whoaaa) for Fallout 4! We expect by this time next week we’ll have a date for the game’s release. Hell, by this time next week we’re going to have a lot of dates and news considering E3 will be in full swing.

This episode comes chock full of information. Witcher 3 is finally able to run on my PC, some Fallout 4 talk, lots of Steam discussion on refunds, controllers, and machines, plus we quickly mention the 6 games added to the first ever Video Game Hall Of Fame. Also, lotta calls this episode, which was nice – you folks keep doing that.

We’ll see you on the next episode for our E3 Prediction Show!

Season 9, Episode 22

We’re not at all excited for E3 at the following link.

We started a discussion about what MS & Sony had to show at E3 and we sort of finished that discussion off-air. Or well, we added to it without actually finishing it. You never really finish a discussion when you’re making predictions on a future event. What we came to, after the show was over, is that while both Microsoft and Sony seem to have a pretty lackluster showing for E3 from what we can tell 2 weeks out, it’s Sony who REALLY seems to have nothing. At least nothing in the way of exclusives. We figure Uncharted 4 and VR will be shown off, but we couldn’t come up with anything else from any Sony first party studios. We know it’s probably out there. We know they have to have something to fill in the 2 hours, but how much of it belongs to them and isn’t something we can pick up on PC or Xbox One?

Time will tell. Also, next week’s show we’ll have a Witcher 3 update on if I could get it to run on my PC or not – this looks to be turning into a weekly feature of the show it seems.

Portal Pinball Preview

Here’s preview of the Portal Table from Zen Studios for Pinball FX 2. This was recorded yesterday and as shown, it suffered from some nasty ball lag that really made the table difficult to play. HOWEVER, I played it again today without streaming or recording and the table played as smooth as silk. I was also able to nail down the mechanics and aiming. I currently sit first on the all time leaderboards for the table at 741,825,010 points. Enjoy the preview, but know that NONE of the ball lag exists in the actual game when you’re playing it (only happens when you stream or record it possibly).

There’s a lot more I have to say on the table that I’ll be going over during this Saturday’s show!

We’re not completely optimized at the following link.

Witcher 3 was released and at the time of this show’s recording (Saturday), I couldn’t really tell you much about it. It doesn’t work for me. Well, it didn’t work for me for a good part of the week but testing it as of this writing (Monday), it’s working fine. And that’s good, but I’m far too distracted now with a much smaller (and cheaper) game.

Seriously, I know Witcher 3 is the big beautiful game right now, but if you love exploration and the Metroid-vania style of gameplay (heavy emphasis on Metroid) then do yourself a favor and play Axiom Verge. I talked about this game last week, this past week and I’ll be talking about it again this coming week. It is a fantastic game and no matter how much time I put into it whenever I sit down to play it, I always discover something new. A new power up, a new hidden item or area. Something new is always found no matter if I play for an hour or just 5 minutes.

Which is more than I can say for Witcher 3 at the moment.

Season 9, Episode 20

We’re not at all doing anything illegal at the following link.

It might be because of the games coming out or just me doing research as of late, but it really feels like PC upgrading is in the air for us. James just upgraded to a 970 while Matt and myself have been looking into doing upgrades on our machine. Well, I’m just looking at graphics cards while Matt seems to be building a dream machine. Since the show ended he’s scaled back a bit on his build, but has assured us he’ll keep us informed on the progress of what he’s going to go with.

One of those games coming out that has given some of us this upgrade bug is Witcher 3 and almost a month later both Batman Arkham Knight and the expansion for FF14. But when we look beyond that, we don’t see much else on the horizon. I think we normally have some idea of some holiday releases and we do in the sense of the tried and true fall schedule (CoD, AC, etc), but nothing that stands out. We hope E3 might change things but we aren’t too confident that’ll happen. Here’s hoping however.

Season 9, Episode 19

We’re taking turns being stealthy at the following link.

Stealth games. Some games get it right and some get it wrong. I think one that we universally agree gets it right (almost to perfection) is Mark Of The Ninja. So when Klei, the company who made Mark Of The Ninja, tell us they have another stealth game on the way, our ears, eyes, and whatever else perk up with interest. Invisible Inc. doesn’t scratch the itch left by Mark Of The Ninja, but it fills the hole plenty of other stealth titles just couldn’t do. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve played a stealth game where I had to think as much as I did playing Invisible Inc.

In this episode we talk with James Lantz from Klei Entertainment about Invisible Inc. and a short bit about Mark Of The Ninja 2. Plus, R.J. gives us a rundown on Jason from Mortal Kombat X and Matt tells us of his time with the new expansion for Wolfenstein: The New Order.

Season 9, Episode 18

We made an important announcement at the following link.

So I want to tell you about this weeks episode. Well, I want to bring up two things about this weeks episode. First, we had a great chat with Gareth Coker who did the music for Ori & The Blind Forest. We’ll never turn down talking to video game music composers, regardless of having played the game or not (we haven’t). In fact, all the music in this episode is from Ori & The Blind Forest. We hope you enjoy it (seems a lot of you did).

Secondly, we finally launched our Patreon page. There’s a post at our site we’d like you to read that explains a lot of things about this whole Patreon thing and even more of an explanation directly at our page. I don’t need to rehash all the reasons and go into it again. It’s all there for you to read, but what I will say is that even though we were asked to make some way people could give back to the show, it still surprised me, personally, to see that take place. And so quickly after we launched. It can honestly never be said enough, but, as always…thanks for listening.

If We Could Have A Moment Of Your Time….

This…well, this is a big day for us. We’ve finally launched our Patreon!

What does this mean? Well, it means we’re finally opening up a way for you to support us financially. And that’s a very big deal for us. That being said, it’s very important that you read these next two paragraphs about this whole new world we’re stepping into.

For those of you who might be unfamiliar with the concept of what Patreon is, you should watch this quick video.
https://youtu.be/wH-IDF809fQ
You should also watch the video at our Patreon page as well as read all the info. It’s a lot to read, I know, but we aim to be as upfront and honest about everything – from the things we’ll do with your money to why we even decided to ask for your money. And make no mistake, this is YOUR money and we want you to do with it how ever you see fit. We aren’t begging, we hope we aren’t being pushy and we sure as shit don’t want you to feel obligated. All of this is explained on our Patreon page and in our video, but to be very clear, IGC isn’t going anywhere if you don’t contribute to the Patreon. As well, you won’t miss out on content if you don’t contribute. We will NEVER hide any of our content behind any kind of pay wall. Ever.

Here’s the next part that is very important. If you have any questions about this or doubts about this, we want to hear from you. We want to know if you have concerns or problems with this. On the other side of that, we want to know if you like this and if you’ll support it. We want to know if there’s something YOU want to see from us that we don’t have listed there on the page. We can’t read your minds so we need to hear from you. Feedback from you, our listeners and supporters, is so extremely crucial to us – both in this funding campaign along with the show itself and our other projects. So please, let us know what you think. It’s really important to us.

On behalf of James, Matt, Dennis, ArJay, Nate, and myself…Thank you. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Thank you for donating if you did, thank you for considering it if you didn’t, and thank you for continuing to listen to the show.

Season 9, Episode 17

We’re aiming for the THOR HOLE at the following link.

So, Valve did something to piss off the internet. Of course they did. Anytime you start charging people for something they got for free for a very long time is going to have some people angry with you. The debate isn’t about if people should be angry at what Valve did, it’s more about the question of if Valve should have ever done it in the first place. We seem to be split on the issue. Or maybe I’m the only one split on it. The waters feel untested and on the surface this seems like shaky ground to be applying a price tag. I’m all for creators getting paid for their creations if they want to get paid for it, but something still seems to be missing in the transactions here. The other guys on the show bring up very valid points that could cause a lot of headaches once money is thrown into the mix. Might be easier to understand now why we’ve never outright asked for money from our listeners. That’ll change soon, by the way, but that’s a post (and maybe a show) for another time.

That paragraph above was written yesterday before Noon. That’s about the time I usually get around to writing some draft of these (sort-of) show descriptions. Except, all that has changed now, hasn’t it? Valve has removed the whole idea of paying for mods. It pleases some and upsets others. Although, it clearly looks like the louder voices and possibly the majority were of those who wanted to see Valve do exactly what they have done. Except, I don’t think Valve is done with this. I think they will try again. Skyrim might not have been the best testing bed for this thing, but I think we’re well on the way to paying for mods at some point. And I don’t think it’s a bad thing at all, but I also don’t think I can sum it all up in one of these. It needs a bigger space for the discussion, one we’d like to have your input on for next week’s episode. So write us or even call in next week. We want to know what YOU think.

We’re home at the following link.

We don’t normally touch on things outside of gaming during the show proper. Something we used to do on our MUCH longer episodes or some kind of extra content (we should look into doing those again, huh?). Still, when you’ve had the week we’ve had as movie fans, it’s hard not to talk about both Star Wars and Batman/Superman.

Outside of that, however, we still cover games and ArJay gives us his thoughts on Mortal Kombat X, my thoughts on the new Avengers: Age Of Ultron table for Pinball FX2, and James’ thoughts on Final Fantasy 14. Plus, we still find time to get in some talk about stealth games since it’s been on our plates for the last few weeks.

We’re doing some fuzzy math at the following link.

Lately I’ve been having a lot of fun playing Splinter Cell: Blacklist. It’s a game I got a little ways through when it released and then got distracted or bored or something that kept me from going back to it for ever how long. Now that I’m back playing it and enjoying it, I’m almost done with it. So it was nice last week to get the news that another sneaky-sneak game I’m a fan of was currently in the works. Deus Ex: Human Revolution was a game I played all the way through without taking a year long or more (or less) break. Outside of the boss fights, I loved it. And while finishing up Splinter Cell, I was really hoping we’d be hearing something new for Sam Fisher, but I’ll totally take Adam Jensen in the interim.

Season 9, Episode 14

We finally got everyone in the room at the following link.

I think part of this episode is a great example of part of what this show does. That part being where we pretty much sell you on a game (or keep you from making a mistake). We give our experiences and make you want to share in those. The discussion James had about Elite Dangerous pretty much convinced Matt to buy it right on the spot. It almost caused a few others to pull the trigger as well. It’s a good conversation and one to listen to if you are also on the fence about picking it up.

I’m also surprised at my lack of remembering that The Order just came out not very long ago as we discuss the plight of NOTHING to play on our consoles. Exclusively, anyway. As an owner of a PS4, Xbox One, and a PC, I can’t really think of anything coming out in the next 6 months or more that I’ll be playing on those first two systems. I can imagine the comments and emails we’ll get for leaving out the Wii U. I can also go ahead and tell you I agree with all of them.
